Amish Oyster and Potato Stew Recipe

Serves/Makes: 4

Ingredients:

  • 18 stewing oysters
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Pepper, to taste
How to cook Amish Oyster and Potato Stew:
  • Cook potatoes and celery in 1 cup of water until tender. Salt, to taste.
  • In the remaining 1/2 cup water, cook the oysters with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Heat until boiling and the oysters begin to curl.
  • Add milk, butter, and vegetables. Heat thoroughly. Add pepper, to taste.
