Easy Fried Flounder with Onion Recipe

Serves/Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 large whole flounder (plaice), about 1½ - 2 pounds
  • A pinch of thyme
  • Flour for breading
  • 1 onion, finely sliced
  • Salt and freshly grated black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
How to cook Easy Fried Flounder with Onion:
  • Scored a dark skin of flounder. Cut the head and guts at once and then cut off tail and fins around the fish. (It is very convenient to do it with a kitchen scissors.)
  • Rinse the fish under running cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  • In a large skillet heat oil and fry flounder, over medium heat, until golden brown on both sides - about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Cut the fish into steaks about 1½-inch width and season with thyme, salt and pepper; dredge in flour.

  • After turning add the sliced onion.
  • Serve the fried flounder immediately with fried onion, greens and lemon wedges.
  • Goes well with mashed potatoes as a side dish.
