Easy Prawn Gumbo Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound peeled jumbo or large prawns (shrimps)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) plum tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 pound okra, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, seeds removed and diced
  • 1 green pepper, seeds removed and diced
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
How to cook Easy Prawn Gumbo:
  • Heat the oil in a large pan and fry the onion and garlic until softened.
  • Add the peppers and okra and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the tomatoes, allspice and cayenne pepper and simmer for about 25 minutes, until the gumbo is thickened.
  • Add the prawns (shrimps), heat through and serve with boiled or steamed rice.
