Fried Tilapia Fillets with Sorrel Sauce Recipe

Serves/Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 tilapia fillets (about 10 ounces each)
  • Flour for coating
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Sorrel Sauce:

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Sorrel (approximately 2 ounces), finely chopped
  • 2-3 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup cream (20-30% fat)
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • Salt to taste
How to cook Fried Tilapia Fillets with Sorrel Sauce:
  • Put the vegetable oil and chopped onion in a saucepan and place over medium heat.
  • Fry until golden, then add the chopped sorrel and 2-3 tablespoons water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the cream and stir. Add the flour and salt to taste, stir. Bring to a boil, but do not boil.
  • Put the sauce into a blender and mix.
  • Season beaten egg with salt to taste.
  • Roll the fish fillets in flour. Dip fish in beaten egg, then roll again in the flour.
  • Fry the fish until golden brown on both sides.
  • Place the fried fish on a serving plates and pour the Sorrel Sauce over the fish.
