
Chingri Malai Curry (Creamy Prawn Curry) Recipe
Serves/Makes: 3 – 4
Ingredients:
- 1 pound prawns (shrimps)
- 3 tablespoons mustard oil
- 1/2 tablespoon whole cumin seeds
- 2 tablespoons ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon cumin paste (soak cumin in water overnight and grind)
- 6 green chillies (slit)
- 1 teaspoons turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon garam masala*
- 1 1/4 cups coconut milk
- Salt to taste
How to cook Chingri Malai Curry (Creamy Prawn Curry):
- Blanch the prawns (shrimps) in turmeric water.
- Heat the mustard oil in a pan and add sugar and whole cumin seeds.
- Add ginger paste, red chilli powder, cumin paste and turmeric powder and saute.
- Add the prawns and slit green chillies and stir fry for few minutes.
- Pour in the coconut milk, cook for few more minutes and then add salt.
- Sprinkle garam masala.
- Serve the Creamy Prawn Curry hot with steamed rice.
