
Easy New England Fish Chowder Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound any firm, white-fleshed fish
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 to 6 potoates, peeled and chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 to 2 cups or more milk or half-and-half
- Seasoned salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Garlic powder, to taste
- Flour, if needed
How to cook Easy New England Fish Chowder:
- Sauté celery and onion in butter until tender. Add chicken broth, potatoes, and seasonings. Simmer until potatoes are tender.
- Add fish. Simmer fish for 8 minutes per inch of thickness to cook through.
- When done, add milk and heat, do not boil. If chowder needs to be thickened, mix a little milk with flour and stir into soup.
- Serve the New England Fish Chowder hot in individual soup bowls with crusty French or Italian bread, warmed for a few minutes in the oven, or crackers.
