
Easy Prawn Gumbo Recipe
Serves/Makes: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 pound peeled jumbo or large prawns (shrimps)
- 1 can (14 ounces) plum tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 pound okra, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 red pepper, seeds removed and diced
- 1 green pepper, seeds removed and diced
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
How to cook Easy Prawn Gumbo:
- Heat the oil in a large pan and fry the onion and garlic until softened.
- Add the peppers and okra and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, allspice and cayenne pepper and simmer for about 25 minutes, until the gumbo is thickened.
- Add the prawns (shrimps), heat through and serve with boiled or steamed rice.
