
Lasagna with Canned Tuna Recipe
Serves/Makes: 4 – 6
Ingredients:
- 1 can (16-ounce) tuna
- 3/4 pound lasagna noodles (fresh or ready made)
- 1/2 pound mozzarella, sliced
- 1 bunch of green onions, chopped
- 1/2 pound green peas
- 1 sweet pepper, cut
- 1 clove garlic, mashed
- 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups cheese sauce (see the recipe below)
How to cook Lasagna with Canned Tuna:
- Fry the green onion 3 minutes, add the garlic, the mushrooms and the sweet pepper and fry 3 minutes more.
- Add the tuna and the green peas.
- Put one third of this mixture in a square or rectangular oven tin, pour one fourth of the cheese sauce over it and cover with lasagna sheets.
- Repeat this process twice, and pour the remaining cheese sauce on top of the last lasagna sheets.
- Distribute the mozzarella over the cheese sauce.
- Bake the tuna lasagna in the oven at 400°F / 200°C for 40 minutes.
Cheese Sauce Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3 ounces cheese, grated
- Some nutmeg
- Some cayenne pepper
How to cook Cheese Sauce:
- Melt the butter and stir in the flour.
- Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes.
- Stir in the milk. Bring to the boil, stir well.
- Take the sauce off the heat and dissolve the cheese in it.
- Add the nutmeg and dust with cayenne pepper.
