
Maryland Baked Crab Fondue Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound lump crab meat
- 4 slices white bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 small pimiento, finely chopped
- 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, grated, separated
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 cups half-and-half
- Paprika
- 1/4 cup pimiento-stuffed olives, coarsely chopped, optional
How to cook Maryland Baked Crab Fondue:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Butter bread on both sides and cut into cubes. Line the bottom of an 8×8-inch buttered baking pan with half the bread cubes. Cover bread cubes with crab meat, pimiento, and 1/2 cup cheese.
- Top crab meat with remaining bread cubes and 1/2 cup cheese.
- Whisk eggs with mustard, salt, and half-and-half in a small bowl until thoroughly blended. Pour egg mixture over all. Sprinkle with paprika, and bake for 45 minutes until firm.
- Sprinkle chopped olives (optional) over the Maryland Baked Crab Fondue and serve.
