
New Orleans Oysters Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 teaspoons Cajun spices (store bought or homemade, see the recipe below)
- 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
How to cook New Orleans Oysters:
- Rinse and dry oysters. In a shallow dish mix the Cajun spices, paprika and basil thoroughly. Set aside two teaspoons of the spice mix. Add the flour to remainder and stir thoroughly.
- Thread three oysters onto eight oiled skewers (choose thin bamboo or metal) and coat with spiced flour.
- Heat the oil and butter in a large skillet. Cook the oysters until they are golden, turning frequently. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with the reserved Cajun spices and serve with wedges of lemon and a dish of mayonnaise.

- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons white pepper
- 2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
