
Pinoy Rellenong Alimango (Stuffed Crab) Recipe
Serves/Makes: 5
Ingredients:
- 5 mud crabs (alimango)
- 1 cup ground pork
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped spring onions
- 1/4 cup chopped carrots
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon granulated white sugar
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce (patis)
- 2 eggs, well-beaten
How to cook Pinoy Rellenong Alimango (Stuffed Crab):
- Steam the crabs until done. Remove the legs, break them and flake the meat. Carefully separate the outer shell from the body. Flake the meat and the fat from the body. Set aside.
- Rinse the outer crab shells and pat dry. Set aside as well.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, crab fat, ground pork, onions, spring onions, carrots, seasonings and egg white.
- Fill the crab shells with the mixture, forming an exaggerated mound.
- Dip stuffed crab shells in beaten egg and deep fry.
- Serve the Pinoy Rellenong Alimango (Stuffed Crab) hot with catchup.
Notes:
Kining sud-ana makasingot sa ka lami. (This kind of food will make you sweat with its good taste).
Hints:
Rellenong Alimango, or stuffing placed in half of a crab shell and topped with egg batter – a popular Filipino dish. The are a lot of variations of stuffing. You can use 2 potatoes (boiled, peeled and cubed) instead of pork in this recipe.
If desired, use blue crabs (alimasag), instead of mud crabs (alimango).
