
Scalloped Virginia Oysters Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pint oysters
- 3 slices toasted white bread
- Butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices bacon
How to cook Scalloped Virginia Oysters:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Drain the juice from oysters. Cut slices toasted white bread into little squares.
- Butter a 1-quart glass baking plate. Put in a layer of oysters with some salt, pepper, butter, and a little Worcestershire sauce. Next add a layer of toasted bread squares. Top with second layer of oysters and then bread squares until the dish is full. Cover with slices of bacon.
- Place in a 400°F (200°C) oven until the oysters are done and the bacon is brown and crisp.
- Do not overcook the oysters or they will be tough.
