
Shrimp Jambalaya Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp
- 1 large onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 green pepper
- 2 stalks celery
- 3 sprigs parsley
- 2 tablespoons bacon fat
- 1 can tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Pinch of thyme
- 2 ounces butter
- 1 pound rice
- Oysters, optional
How to cook Shrimp Jambalaya:
- Chop onion, garlic (very, very fine), green pepper, celery, and parsley. Saute all together in rendered bacon fat until soft, being careful not to burn.
- Add tomato sauce. Stir well and season to taste with salt, pepper, and a pinch of thyme.
- Cut shrimp into halves the length of each shrimp. Saute the shrimp in melted butter until they start to curl. Add to the sauce mixture and simmer for 1/2 hour.
- Boil rice until soft. Rinse with cold water. Mix the shrimp and sauce with the rice.
- If desired, oysters, cut up, may be added to the sauce just before mixing with the rice.
- Heat the Shrimp Jambalaya and serve.
Notes:
The Shrimp Jambalaya recipe easy to prepare and so good! This dish is better the second day reheated.
