
Slovakian Fish Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds assorted fish
- 2 rashers bacon, diced
- 2 skinned tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 6 cups water or fish broth
- 4 medium potatoes, grated
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
How to cook Slovakian Fish Soup:
- Debone, skin, and cube the fish.
- Fry the bacon in a large pot till well done but not crisp. Add the fish and fry for a couple of minutes till lightly coloured.
- Add paprika, mixing well, and cover with water or broth. Bring slowly to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, partially covered.
- Add salt, freshly ground black pepper, marjoram, and the grated potatoes. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook another 10 minutes. Serve with croutons made from cubed dark bread fried in butter, or dumplings.
