
Tali Machhi Amritsari (Fried Fish Amritsari) Recipe
Serves/Makes: 6
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds boneless sole fish (or any fish with firm, white flesh), cleaned and cut into medium-thick slices
- Oil to deep fry
- Lemon wedges to garnish
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 2 tablespoons garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 2 teaspoons ajwain (carom seeds)
- 4 snipped red chillies
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 iced water
- Salt to taste
How to cook Tali Machhi Amritsari (Fried Fish Amritsari):
- Combine all the marinade ingredients.
- Pour over the fish and set aside for 30 minutes.
- Remove the fish from the marinade and pat dry.
- Combine all ingredients for the batter.
- Coat the fish in the batter and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Heat the oil till it is very hot. Slide in the fish pieces and deep fry in batches till they are crisp and golden brown in color.
- Serve the deep fried sole fish hot with lemon wedges.
